Sitting silently. Not moving. Paying attention to your own experience… it appears to be a selfish act.
It’s actually the least selfish thing we can do.
Meditation practice is designed for freedom from self-preoccupation.
So when your loved ones are talking, you can listen without being preoccupied in thought.
Meditation Exercise:
Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, hold for a few seconds, and exhale slowly. Focus on your breath, its rhythm and sensation.
If thoughts arise, gently let them go, bringing your attention back to the breath.
Stay present, fully aware of each inhale and exhale.
Continue for a few minutes.
When you're ready, open your eyes, take a moment to feel the calmness, and carry it with you throughout your day.
