This book changed how I think about consciousness, especially the connection between my thoughts and my reality: it’s called "Letting Go" by David R. Hawkins.
Hawkins was a researcher and doctor who studied consciousness – basically, what it means to be aware of yourself and the world around you. He created a "Map of Consciousness" showing different levels of energy connected to our emotions. He even gave them numbers! Higher numbers mean more peace and happiness.
He used a special kind of muscle testing to figure this out. He'd say a word or idea to someone, then press on their arm. If their arm stayed strong, it meant the word had "high energy." If their arm went weak, it meant "low energy."
Here's the main idea:
The highest energy level is Enlightenment. You feel completely free, super aware, and want to help others.
After Enlightenment comes Peace, Joy, and Love.
The lowest energy levels are Apathy (feeling hopeless), Guilt, and Shame.
High Energy (500-1000):
Enlightenment, Peace, Joy, Love – think feeling super peaceful, compassion for everyone, and being truly happy.
Medium Energy (200-400):
Reason, Acceptance, Willingness, Courage – using logic, accepting things as they are, and being brave.
Low Energy (20-175):
Pride, Anger, Desire, Fear, Grief, Apathy, Guilt, Shame – feeling stuck, upset, or not good enough.
Why does this “Consciousness Map” matter?
Because your consciousness creates your reality! Different energy is like wearing different colored glasses. Red glasses make everything look red, and blue glasses make everything look blue. Your state of consciousness is like those glasses – they change how you live in the world.
When you shift your consciousness to a higher level, it's like getting a better pair of glasses. You start to experience the world differently. Challenges become opportunities. You appreciate things you used to take for granted, like clean air and water.
When you’re at peace with whatever comes your way - you have the best energy in the room! And consequently, you’ll start experiencing some really cool things too!!
So, what can you do to raise your energy?
Pay attention to what you focus on! If social media is bringing you down, try something different. Listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or watch longer videos on youtube. You can even ask AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini to suggest interesting things to explore online.
One of the most powerful things you can do is meditate. It's the oldest practice in the world and helps you understand your own mind.
By meditating – simply sitting still but relaxed, focusing on your breath, and noticing what you sense – you train your mind to feel complex emotions and let them run their course.
When you meditate, thoughts and emotions like anger, grief, and fear will come and go. But with practice, you'll learn to observe them without getting carried away. As you let go, your energy will naturally rise. You'll start to experience more reason, acceptance, and courage. Eventually, you'll find compassion, gratitude and even joy!
Life is full of challenges, but by raising your consciousness, you can face them with greater resilience and a deep sense of peace.
Thank you for your time and attention.
